Underneath the sky so blue

It was my distinct pleasure to run sound for Drew & Ellie Holcomb yesterday at Washburn University for the college YoungLife group that has recently kicked off on campus.

The title is a bit of a joke… the sky was anything but blue. It was a blustery spring day with a deep cloud deck and a crisp (meaning cold) breeze. The words are a part of lyrics from a song titled ‘Live Forever’ on Drew Holcomb and the¬†Neighbors¬†newest album titled ‘Chasing Someday’.

This was my second time providing audio support for Drew and Ellie. I have done thousands of gigs through the years, and it is refreshing to come across musicians as pleasant as Drew & Ellie. If you don’t have this album, head to iTunes or Amazon and get it. I promise – its great!¬†Don’t believe me? Check out this¬†exceptional music video from the new album.

This shot was snapped during a cool portion of the concert where Drew and Ellie shared the mic. Good stuff. I took this one hand-held and at a slower shutter speed. They were lit with a single 250 watt halogen work light about 15 feet away. There was still light from the sky, but the sun was already starting to set. It was not bright at all. To compensate, a high ISO was needed with a slower shutter speed.
